This Labor Day, I hope you stop and think about the unending attacks on working people we’ve seen recently.
We honor American workers each September for standing up for our rights and fighting for fair wages, safe working conditions, and reasonable hours.
Two years ago, working people fought back against Senate Bill 5, Governor John Kasich’s unfair, unsafe attack on us all. We rekindled the true spirit of labor, came together, and vetoed SB 5 by a 2-1 margin.
These arrogant attacks on workers show no sign of stopping. This year, Republicans in the Ohio House of Representatives introduced so-called “right to work” legislation. It is wrong for Ohio, wrong for working people and wrong for the middle class. Don’t trust it.
Have a great Labor Day and take just a few moments to think about its true meaning.
