George Zimmerman said he shot and killed Trayvon Martin because he feared for his life. He claimed self-defense, and when his jury was told he had no duty to retreat, they found him not guilty.
“Stand your ground” or “shoot first” laws permit the use of deadly force with no duty to retreat any time a person feels threatened.
Ohio legislators want Ohio to enact a “stand your ground” law. They have introduced HB 203, which will allow lethal force to be used without a duty to retreat.
Please sign this petition to tell the Ohio legislature not to vote for “stand your ground” in Ohio.
