Governor Kasich Appoints Annette Butler

Gov. John Kasich on Tuesday appointed Annette Butler, a fellow Republican, to be a Common Pleas judge.

Ms. Butler is filling a vacancy left by former Judge Timothy J. McGinty, a Democrat who is running for county prosecutor.

Ms. Butler will take office on December 12. She must run for election next fall to keep the seat through the remainder of the unexpired term, which ends January 1, 2017.

Ms. Butler said she will bring wisdom, maturity and an abundance of legal experience to the bench.

Before working for the county, Ms. Butler spent twenty-four years as a civil litigator in the Cleveland office of the U.S. attorney. She has worked for the Cleveland schools’ Office on School Monitoring and as an attorney in private practice.
