Ohio Democrats will not have to look hard to recruit House candidates next year. At least four of the five Democrats who lost their seats last year are considering comeback bids under the state’s new Congressional map.
Republicans crafted a new map to put at least two current Democratic members in peril next year, but the map has unintended consequences.
State Senator Charleta Tavares also said she is “very interested” in the third district and plans to make a final decision within a month. Former Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner, former state treasurer Kevin Boyce, and Columbus City Councilman Zach Klein are also considering running for the seat.
One Democrat so far has confirmed that he will not run for the seat: Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman.
