The workers at Sydmor’s Jewelry noticed nothing unusual about Hance or his behavior. The 51-year-old Hance breezed through the federal background check and took immediate possession of a .45-caliber Hi-Point weapon.
It is unclear whether Hance, who was killed by police, bought the weapon on August 2 with intent to kill.
Two guns were used in the spree. Authorities are still trying to determine the origin of the other weapon.
