The Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that Ohio officials did not violate privacy laws in disclosing personal information from drivers’ records. In doing so, the Court dismissed a 2009 lawsuit filed against Ohio’s public safety and motor vehicle agencies by three Cincinnati residents.

The lower court had ruled that state officials could be sued for disclosing personal information for a purpose not permitted by the Driver’s Privacy Protection Act.

The attorney says the parties have not decided yet whether to appeal to the United States Supreme Court.
